57 quests, some hidden
CharacterSheet turns your real workouts, reading and meditation into a quest log. Some quests are on the board from day one, and others appear only after you finish the quest before them.

CharacterSheet has 57 fixed quests you complete with real timer sessions. 27 are visible from the start; 30 stay hidden until you finish the quest before them. You can run three at a time, and the daily rotation and urgent quests do not count toward that limit.
What the quests do
The Quests tab holds 57 hand-written quests. You accept one, do real sessions with the timer, and tap Complete Quest to claim the XP. Nothing completes by itself, so every reward is a button you press on purpose.
The built-in Clock app is good at what it does: alarms, timers and a stopwatch. It counts a block of time and then stops. A label can say what a timer is for, but nothing happens with that time afterward: no next step and no reward. Quests add the missing layer. A timer session in CharacterSheet already earns XP (see XP by the minute), and a quest says what to do with those sessions this month: run for 30 minutes, train Spirit five days in a row, reach Strength 20.

How a quest works, step by step
- Open the Quests tab. The header reads, for example, "0 of 57 complete".
- Tap a card to expand it. You see the story line, the requirement (for example "≥10 min") and the XP reward.
- Tap Accept Quest. Only sessions you finish after this moment count.
- Train with the timer. An accepted quest that names an activity, such as Running, puts a scroll badge on that activity.
- When the requirement is met, the greyed Complete Quest button turns blue and shows the reward, such as "Complete Quest · +60 XP". Tap it.
- The XP bars fill, the card reads Turned in, and the next quest in its chain can open.
To drop a quest you no longer want, tap Abandon quest and confirm. It goes back to Available and its progress is cleared. A new accept starts counting from zero.
Which quests are hidden
Of the 57, 27 show from the start, either as open quests or as greyed teasers. The other 30 stay out of sight until you turn in the quest before them. A locked teaser shows only its title and one line saying what opens it, such as "Reach Endurance 5" or "Reach level 15". The story line and requirements stay hidden until it unlocks.
So you always see the next rung of a ladder, never the whole climb. The kinds of quest below show how the chains are built.
The kinds of quest
| Kind | How many | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| First Steps | 1 | A free tutorial quest, claimable the moment you accept it. |
| Starters | 5 | One 10-minute session for each stat: Strength, Endurance, Agility, Wisdom, Spirit. |
| Sagas | 25 | Five named chains of 4 to 6 chapters: The Long Road (endurance, 15 minutes up to 2 hours; chapter 3 must be a run, the others take any Endurance session), Iron and Will, The Still Mind (days in a row), Fleetfoot, The Long Study. From chapter 2 on, each chapter needs the one before it and a rising stat level. |
| Epics | 9 | Gold-bordered milestones, such as a 20 km run, a 14-day Spirit streak, or all five stats at level 20 or 30. Each shows a closing line when you turn it in. |
| One-offs | 17 | Mixed-stat quests, before-9 or after-20 sessions, 200 total minutes, 10 km on foot, hard-effort sessions and level milestones. |
Rewards follow the quest's length: about 4 XP per required minute, paid to each stat the quest touches. A level milestone pays 8 XP times the target level. A reward can be reduced when a stat sits at the cap for its tier, so the level system still decides how fast you climb.
A few more sit outside the 57. The Daily rotation section shows two or three offers a day, drawn from the stats you have neglected. An Urgent quest arrives at 08:00 or 18:00 with a countdown. Now and then a short saga appears too: the same stat a few days in a row. None of them uses one of your three active slots.
The board groups cards as Urgent, Daily rotation, In Progress, Available, Locked and Completed.
When the quests are the right tool
You want a plan, not a pile of sessions
The running saga starts at 15 minutes and climbs to two hours over six chapters. From the second step on, each one also asks for a higher Endurance level, so you cannot rush it. Chapter 3 must be a run; the others take any Endurance session. That is a couch-to-long-run plan you do not have to write.
You keep skipping meditation
The Still Mind counts consecutive days: three, five, seven, then ten. The quest tracks your longest run of back-to-back days since you accepted it, so a gap means you build a new run. Any Spirit session counts, meditation included.
You train one thing and neglect the rest
Quests such as Well Rounded and The Pentagon ask for several stats in a single stretch. They push you toward the stat you ignore.
You want a reason to do the hard session
No Easy Days and Redline count only sessions you set to hard effort. A medium session that feels hard will not count.
You need a nudge today
Open the daily rotation, accept one offer, and the quest points you at a specific activity with a prefilled setup. For the bigger picture, see how to level up in real life.
Honest limits
- Three at a time. You can have three accepted quests in progress. Accept is disabled with the message "3 quests already active. Finish or abandon one first."
- No custom quests. The 57 are fixed and written in advance. You cannot create your own.
- Real sessions only. Ticking a daily does not count toward quest progress. A session must come from the timer, a Watch workout or an imported workout.
- Activity names must match. Quests that name Running, Meditation or Reading count only sessions of that activity.
- Distance needs a recorded distance. The 10 km and 20 km quests add up the distance saved with each session.
- Quest XP is not training. A turned-in quest writes no session log, so it does not count as volume toward keeping a stat from slipping.
- It is part of the app. The quests are included in CharacterSheet, which is a subscription app. They are not sold separately.
If you mostly want a streak, start with the workout streak guide. CharacterSheet runs on iPhone with iOS 26 or later, and the latest release today is iOS 27.2.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a quest app for real-life fitness?
CharacterSheet is one. It has 57 quests for iPhone that you complete with real workouts, reading and meditation sessions. You accept a quest, train with the timer, then tap Complete Quest to claim the XP.
Are the fitness quests free?
The quests are part of CharacterSheet and are not sold separately. The app is a subscription app, so check the App Store listing for the current plans and any trial before you commit.
How many quests can I have active at once?
Three. The In Progress section shows your count, such as 2 of 3. Finish one or tap Abandon quest to free a slot. Urgent quests and the daily rotation do not use a slot.
What are the hidden quests in CharacterSheet?
Thirty of the 57 stay hidden until you turn in the quest before them. The rest appear from the start, either open or as a greyed teaser that names what unlocks it.
Can I make my own real-life side quests?
No. The 57 quests are written in advance and the daily offers are chosen by the app. For your own daily tasks, the Willpower stat has dailies you name yourself.
